Why do I need a Funeral Plan?

Why do I need a Funeral Plan?

It’s only natural to put off talking about death, it is a subject that many of us are uncomfortable with. Unfortunately, it is an inevitable part of life and planning ahead is important. By arranging a Funeral Plan during your lifetime you can:

  • Help relieve the financial burden of the funeral for your relatives;
  • Protect against rising funeral costs; and
  • Arrange your funeral to ensure your wishes are carried out.

With a funeral plan you will get to choose the funeral you want while paying for it at today’s prices. Funeral cost inflation has averaged about 7% over the last ten years. In 2016 Sun Life prepared a Cost of Dying report which states the average costs of a funeral is in excess of £3,897. Should the average 7% inflation continue this could mean the average funeral will cost £7,049 by 2026 and £12,794 by 2036.

Savings in a bank or building society are just a sum of money. You may spend this money before you die, or it may not keep up with the rising costs of funerals. But putting a funeral plan in place today you are securing the funeral you want.
